The short version: we collect only what we need to plan your home gym, we keep it in Canada, we never sell it, and we delete it when we're done.

Who we are

BYG is an independent project based in Canada. Ryder Silver is responsible for how personal information is handled. For any privacy question or request, email homegymplanner@gmail.com.

What we collect

When you request a free plan, we collect what you enter in the form:

  • your name and email address
  • your province, territory or state
  • your room's length, width and ceiling height
  • your budget and training goals
  • anything you choose to tell us about equipment you own or your space
  • that you agreed to be emailed, and when you sent the request

We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps short-term technical logs (such as IP addresses and browser type) to keep the site secure and working.

Your location. To show prices for where you live, the site remembers the province, territory or state you choose, in your own browser only; it isn't sent to us. On your first visit we make a guess from your internet connection (our host tells us the approximate country and region); we don't store that guess on our side, and you can change it any time with the location button at the top of the page.

If you create an account

Accounts are optional. If you sign in with Google, we keep:

  • your name and email address, which Google shares with us when you sign in (nothing else from Google)
  • the province, territory or state you choose, so prices follow you to other devices
  • your room size, ceiling height and type of space, your training goals and the gear you own, if you fill them in
  • plans and products you save
  • whether you've asked for emails, and when (off unless you turn it on)

We never ask for your street address, postal code, phone number, birthday or payment details. Signing in uses a cookie that keeps you signed in; it isn't used for tracking.

The database only lets you read or change your own account. From your account page you can download everything we hold about you, or delete your account, which permanently deletes your profile, saved plans and saved products straight away. We keep account information for as long as you have the account.

Why we collect it

  • to prepare your home gym plan and email it to you
  • to send one follow-up asking how your gym turned out, which you're free to ignore

We don't sell, rent or share your information for marketing. We only use it for the purposes above, which you agree to when you tick the box on the form. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing homegymplanner@gmail.com.

Where it's stored

We use a small number of trusted service providers:

  • Supabase stores plan requests and accounts in a database located in Canada, and handles signing in. It isn't publicly accessible: plan requests can only be added by our website's server and viewed by Ryder Silver; account information can only be reached by you, signed in.
  • Google confirms who you are when you choose to sign in with Google.
  • Vercel hosts the website. Your request passes through Vercel's servers on its way to the database, and those servers may be outside Canada, including in the United States, where local laws may apply.
  • Our email provider is used to send you your plan.

Everything sent between your browser and our site is encrypted (HTTPS).

How long we keep it

We keep your request for 12 months after we send your plan, so we can follow up, then delete it. If we can't prepare a plan for you, we delete your request within 12 months of receiving it.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted at any time. Email homegymplanner@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes

If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. We won't use information you've already given us in a new way without asking you first.
