The rules we use
- Racks need at least an inch under the ceiling, and about 18 inches above the top bar for pull-ups. These are the same rules the Builder uses.
- Pressing overhead: most adults reach about 1.33× their height with arms up. Standard 450 mm plates stick up another 9 inches above your hands.
- Treadmills: your height, plus the deck, plus 6 inches for the bounce of each stride. Our rule of thumb; the maker's manual may ask for more.
- Barbells: the bar plus about 24 inches in total to slide plates onto both ends.
